Vancouver, BC, May 14, 2025 - June’s bi-level concept has fully come to life. Officially opening on Thursday, May 15, 2025, Lala is a 40-seat vinyl listening bar located beneath the restaurant’s main floor, featuring select dishes from June’s menu, classic cocktails and a relaxed atmosphere fuelled by a rotating selection of vinyl records. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a unique window into the “ice cave”, before slipping past velvet curtains into Lala.

Named after co-proprietor Keenan Hood’s daughter, her nickname, Lala carries forward the spirit of generational female connection established with June, a tribute to co-proprietor Cam Watt’s mother.

“With June named after Cam’s mom, we wanted to continue honouring the theme by naming Lala after my daughter – it just felt natural,” explains Hood. “There’s a quiet beauty in building something that speaks to family, home, and the spaces we create for each other and for our guests.”

Lala brings to life the team’s long-time dream of opening a living room-vibe cocktail bar. The room, designed by Mexico City-based architect Héctor Esrawe, was created to feel like a natural extension of the upstairs, playing on the feeling of home: gather around the table with family, then head downstairs to unwind (or party) with friends.

“This idea of upstairs and downstairs really mirrors the way so many of us grew up,” adds Leticia Castro, general manager, June. “You have dinner with your family, and then the night carries on in the basement. That familiar flow, both warm and a little nostalgic, is what we wanted to capture with Lala.”

While enjoying Lala, guests can expect to sip on a focused list of classic cocktails (think martinis, classic and contemporary creations), and snack on a small, curated menu of dishes from June, including Truffle Eggs, Crispy Frog Legs, Crab Dip, Fries, Beef Tartare, and the June Burger.

A rotating selection of DJs will spin vinyl seven nights a week, with an ever-evolving mix of styles to set the tone and energy of the room.

Lala officially opens on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., and will be open seven days a week thereafter. Limited reservations via Resy are available (guests should select available options under Lala basement bar). Walk-ins are always welcome.

Sales volumes increased by 51.2% compared the first quarter of 2024 and a 9.2% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.  More importantly, our adjusted EBITDA was a positive $0.7 million , which represents a $2.2 million improvement from the first quarter loss of $1.5 million incurred in 2024.

"In these times of uncertainty and significant economic headwinds I am thrilled to announce our first quarter 2025 results.  These improvements are the result of the implementation of our strategy that we outlined in 2024.  Growth of contract sales volumes allows the Corporation to flatten the historically seasonal production and sales curve which not only improves operational efficiencies but improves profitability as a significant portion of the Corporations costs are fixed.  The management team is also working to mitigate the impact of the recently announced changes to the Alberta Markup Share and ongoing turmoil with global tariffs ". said Mr. Kinder
